Brief Description: Dr Surekha Kamath working as a Professor in the department of ICE MIT, MANIPAL. She has joined MIT in the year 2004 as a lecturer and served as a senior lecturer, Associate Professor and currently working as a professor. She has total twenty-six years of teaching experience and also she had published more than 35 papers in various international and national journals. And more than 30 papers in national/international conferences. She had conducted various conferences and workshops in the department. Her research interest includes Biological control system, Medical Image Processing, signal processing and applications of soft computing techniques in biomedical applications.
She had guided three PhD students on various disciplines such as Robust Control, Trajectory optimization using PSO and CAD tool for early detection of breast cancer using Medical Thermogram images. Currently she is guiding one student on Development of dual MPC for Blood Glucose regulation and one more student on Development of CAD for Liver cancer diagnosis using CT images.
She is the Life member of various technical societies such as IEEE, IE India, BMESI, ISTE etc and she had written a chapter titled “Fuzzy logic for Breast Cancer Diagnosis Using Medical Thermogram Images”, in the book titled “ Fuzzy Expert Systems for Disease Diagnosis” in the year 2015.
She did FAIMER Fellowship of Manipal University in the year 20018 on the topic “ Development of low cost polysomnography device for sleep disorders”
